Development Stages

Postby J|D » Wed Dec 13, 2006 6:36 am

Hello all,

I have compiled this for you so you can understand the stages of our software.

Pre-Alpha

Internal only; not for public viewing and information regarding it not to be shared. Ideas for the software are pondered. The framework is written. By the end of the pre-alpha stages, the majority of the backend (coding) should be written and a skeleton shell (web design) should be made.

Alpha

Also internal only. Primary features are added. Testing for bugs, see new features, etc. Not expected to be stable. The rest of the backend is written and the shell is further "glued" to the backend.

Beta

Feature freeze. Testing the software publicly, check for bugs, etc. Some small features may be added but generally this is reserved for Alpha stages.

Pre-Final

Almost final. This is the stage in which everything, not just the script itself, is nearly done. That means the program, website, documentation, and any tools that will accompany the script such as upgrade scripts, etc.

Final

The only way the final version should differ from the Pre-Final is in bugs and security issues, and possibly graphics.
